After a flop in the month of April, for the Marlins and Heath Bell, the month of May began on a happier note.

Marlins starter Ricky Nolasco said that he feels lots of people have mentioned that the coming month of May willbring a new ray of hope for the team. The month of May saw a turn around with the score line reading 2-1, defeating the Giants at AT&T Park.

Nolasco gave a dandy, Edward Mujica saved big time with an 8th innings rescue whereas Bell delivered a perfect 9th to safeguard the win.

The Marlins continuously struggled at the plate level. They could manage just 2 runs against Giants opener Matt Cain.

It was the pitching which won the game for the Marlins. They opened a 9 game road tour after losing 8 of their last 9 contests. The Marlins were 8-13 last month and frequently looked lazy in doing so.

But undoubtedly Nolasco is at his peak when he is playing in his native state of California, and Tuesday witnessed that. Nolasco said that possibly it is the joy of having family around that he keeps playing well at California.

Nolasco has won 4 of his career starts at AT&T Park. His 0.87 ERA is 3rd lowest amongst all the opposite starters. On the whole, Nolasco has made 8-2 in California and he will get another opportunity to get better on that park after he will return in San Diego on Sunday.

The Marlins had a 1-0 lead in the 4th on Hanley Ramirez’s RBI single. Stanton made it 2-0 in the 5th with his left shot. Pablo Sandoval finished it 2-1 in the 6th.
